Under the general supervision of the School Principal, plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning, employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students including strategies to meet diverse student needs.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist all students in meeting or exceeding 21st-century knowledge and skills, including state academic achievement standards
- Articulate what students should know and be able to do while working to help students achieve
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects to communicate these objectives to students;
- Plan and deliver learning experiences that advance the learning of each individual student; show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor
- Design authentic learning experiences for students to learn core knowledge, 21st-century skills and literacies, through, but not limited to, collaboration, problem–based learning, inquiry, and integration of curriculum
- Partner with business and community organizations to create authentic learning experiences
- Organize and plan for learning based upon knowledge of the subject matter, students, the community, and curriculum goals
- Assist in the planning for intervention and remediation in the areas of math, science, and literacy for all students who have not mastered the content standards and implement appropriately
- Develop and implement instructional strategies for each student's academic growth
- Use technology to develop student content knowledge and skills so students know how to learn, think critically, solve problems, use information, communicate, innovate, create and collaborate
- Use continuous, authentic, and appropriate assessment and evaluation measures that are evidence-based and use them to improve instruction and student learning and for feedback, including progress reports
- Be flexible, resourceful, innovative, and can effectively manage the design and execution of learning experiences, both formal and informal
- Create a classroom environment that utilizes staff members as an ongoing presence and is conducive to learning, fosters engagement, self-motivation, student self-direction and positive social interaction
- Provide learning opportunities that support the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of the students
- Work closely with students and parents collaboratively to guide students through school and future education and career choices

QUALIFICATIONS
Verifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S.
- Requires a substitute teaching license Or a certified teaching license
- Must pass Federal and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation background check in accordance with Ohio Administrative Code Section 3301-83-06
Knowledge & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
- Current Ohio teaching license
- Relevant teaching experience or background in subject matter area
- Sound grasp of curriculum for the appropriate subject area and the Ohio Learning Standards
- Experience working in an urban school district or working with urban education
- Understanding of the importance of literacy- and language-based approaches to teaching content area
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction, child development principles, and a wide range of instructional and intervention strategies
- Ability and willingness to utilize technology in the enhancement of student learning
- Effective time management skills
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES/DEMANDS
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, stoop, and climb stairs
- Occasionally lift and/or move lightweight items up to 40 lbs.
