HS Diploma
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
CPR Community Certified
Possession of a valid Ohio Driver's License; CDL required before expiration of
probationary period.
SUMMARY
Under direction of the Assistant Superintendent, Health Services and general supervision of a coordinator or other field health provider professional, drives and maintains a "Mobile Health Unit Vehicle." Assists in coordination of the Mobile Health Center operations, performing both pre-professional and clerical tasks; performs related duties as required or assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (May not include all duties performed)
- Serves as driver/operator of 40-foot mobile health unit; prepares coach prior to engagements and conducts post-engagement clean-up, maintenance and organization.
- Tracks maintenance of the coach, cleaning schedule, and disposing of bio-hazardous waste; observe sand reports equipment malfunctioning.
- Assists in the coordination of daily operations on the coach; i.e., client registration, group orientation.
- Provides orientation for volunteer staff on coach, safety and hazardous materials procedures format.
- Assists coordinator in preparation and maintenance of statistics and program reports.
- Acts as a liaison between volunteers, students, other health care professionals and coordinator while the coach is operating in an outreach capacity; assigns and trains volunteers.
- As assigned, assists health care providers in serving clients at site; attends unit staff
- Functions as site manager in absence of coordinator.
- Provides data entry support as requested.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work involves potential exposure to blood and other body fluids and hazardous waste, and also may involve driving/working in heavy traffic and inclement weather.
- Vehicle may be crowded-limited working space.
- Work may require flexible hours, evening week-end assignments.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Good knowledge of the mission, goals and activities of community health outreach programs.
- Good knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules, regulations, and of local street and road systems.
- Some knowledge of basic first aid, including CPR.
- Some knowledge of or ability to quickly learn operations of a mobile community outreach health unit.
- Demonstrate awareness of and adhere to the organization's policies regarding patient confidentiality.
- Ability to participate in unit activities, schedule clients and volunteers, organize unit before/after engagements.
- Ability to perform routine clerical and data entry tasks and to maintain activity statistical data.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a mobile health unit team. Excellent public relations and communication skills.
- Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity to the age specific and culturally diverse needs of the client, family and community.
